The road to achieving my dreams has been one that is filled with many hurdles and challenges. As a woman raised in a traditional Chinese family, I was often urged to set aside my dreams and aspirations in order to prepare for a future as a good wife and mother. I hold these values dearly, but I also know that my own dreams and goals are very important to me.
My love for classical music developed my artistic sensibilities and eventually led me to the appreciation of fine art drawing and painting. I attended the Academy of Art University in San Francisco and received a Bachelor of Fine Art degree majoring in Illustration in 2002. The process of studying art and my present of study music has not been an easy journey but I proudly to live the life I want and to paint passionately whenever I choose. I have faith in my own strength, and I believe my dreams will come true.
My goal as an artist is to discover the inner beauty of humanity and nature using my innate senses with the help of my paintbrush. The subjects of my paintings represent my attraction and my appreciation of people and nature around me. I’m compelled to capture the beauty of life’s essence through the techniques of painting vibrant light, harmonizing colors, and the seductive mystery of shadows which in turn allow me to convey my emotions.
Emphasizing traditional realism, my work is inspired by such masters as Rembrandt, Monet, and John Singer Sargent. I have used different mediums to illustrate my art and my body of work consists mainly of paintings in oil. Although, I find that painting in oil best portrays my creative ideas, I feel that my heart is the best medium of all. Through the creation of art, I share my discoveries and communicate my emotional response with others.
